T Marie & Bayou Juju Capture South Louisiana Spirit on New Album

South Louisiana roots outfit T Marie and Bayou Juju released their new album Sometimes this October, bringing a fresh perspective to the region’s signature sounds.

Recorded live at French Quarter Festival and at Saturn Bar, Sometimes blends the energy of festivals, dancehalls and dive bars with heartfelt vocals, fiddle, accordion, lap steel, guitar, washboard and drums.

The album features both original songs and new interpretations of traditional Cajun, Creole, Zydeco, Swamp Pop, Country, Blues and New Orleans favorites — all performed before a live audience that bandleader T Marie says is “the most important musician on the bill.”

Musicians on the album include:
Adam Bellard (vocals, accordion, lap steel), Andrew McDaniel (bass), Conner McCready (guitar), Cranston Clements (guitar), Dan Wally Lang (bass, guitar), Gene Harding (washboard, kit), John DePriest (banjo), Kevin Minor (drums), Lyle Werner (fiddle), Marie-Isabelle Evangeline Pautz (T Marie) (vocals, fiddle) and Scott Stobbe (guitar).

Track Listing

Original Songs

  • Whiskey Waltz (Live from French Quarter Fest): Inspired by a confession of love from a rural Louisiana drunk tank, this country-Cajun waltz explores misplaced affections.

  • Sometimes (Live from Saturn Bar): Written to lift spirits, this upbeat track is a reminder that, as T Marie says, “Mama said there’d be days like dat.”

Traditional Songs

  • Hello Josephine (Live from French Quarter Fest): The Fats Domino classic reimagined with a unique Zydeco-inspired beat from drummer Gene Harding.

  • Allons à Lafayette (Live from Saturn Bar): A nod to Joe Falcon and Cleoma Breaux’s 1928 Cajun-Creole recording, with added verses from “This Land Is Your Land” honoring family bartering traditions.

  • Walking to New Orleans (Live from Saturn Bar): A tribute to Bobby Charles and Fats Domino, celebrating the bond between New Orleans and South Louisiana musicians.

  • Eh Mom (Live from Saturn Bar): A medley blending Carleton Frank’s Creole-Lala and Dennis McGee’s Cajun-fiddle versions of the 1928 classic by Mayeus Lafleur and Leo Soileau.

  • Flammes D’enfer (Live from Saturn Bar): Written by Douglas Bellard and recorded in 1929, this Creole standard has been reimagined by T Marie and Bayou Juju.

  • Ain’t That a Shame (Live from Saturn Bar): Fats Domino and Dave Bartholomew meet Cranston Clements for a New Orleans classic revival.

  • Danse de Limonade (Live from French Quarter Fest): A traditional Cajun two-step with punk-inspired energy.

  • Tu Peut Cogner (Live from Saturn Bar): Based on field recordings from 1959 and later renditions by Clifton Chenier and Earl King, this version nods to Louisiana’s folk and Zydeco heritage.

  • One More Chance (Live from Saturn Bar): A reinterpretation of Carol Fran’s 1960 Excello Records single.

  • Chicken on the Run (Live from Saturn Bar): A childhood favorite for T Marie, the song has been covered by Geno Delafosse, Chris Ardoin and Warren Storm.

The album Sometimes is available on all major streaming platforms — including Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon Music.

The official album release celebration will take place Sunday, Nov. 3, from 3 to 6 p.m. at The Broadside in New Orleans.
