Taste of Africa Fest Returns to New Orleans

AfrobeatNOLA will present the Taste of Africa Fest on Saturday, July 19, from 4-11 p.m. at Broadside NOLA (600 N. Broad Street).

Taste of Africa Fest is an annual cultural celebration held in the heart of New Orleans, dedicated to showcasing the rich diversity, beauty, and vibrancy of African culture and its global influence. Each year, locals and visitors alike come together to experience an immersive blend of traditional and contemporary African music, dance, art, fashion, and cuisine. From electrifying live performances and runway shows to authentic African dishes and interactive cultural exhibits, Taste of Africa Fest offers a unique opportunity to connect, celebrate, and honor the spirit of Africa and the diaspora — all with the unmistakable energy of New Orleans.

This family-friendly festival will feature authentic African cuisine from Nigeria, Ghana, Benin, Togo, Ethiopia and Haiti, including vegan options. Two stages will showcase live performances and DJs, offering a mix of drumming, dance and contemporary Afrobeat sounds.

The Taste of Africa Fest lineup includes Nkiruka African Dance Company, Togolese singer Kodjo, Nigerian DJ Ojay, South African DJ Shan Li, Guyanese percussionist Majek Fingers, DJ Chika, Afrobeat artist Kari Jay and Louisiana’s DJ T-Roy. The event will be hosted by Kodjo the Hypeman.

Additional highlights include an African dance competition, a free history lesson on African rhythms and interactive cultural experiences.
