He was influenced by the R&B styles of James Booker, Bill Doggett, Booker T. Jones, Lloyd Glenn and Professor Longhair. Eddie Bo, who also was received OffBeat’s Lifetime Achievement in Music Award, was a singer, pianist and producer from New Orleans. Schooled in jazz, he was known for his blues, soul and funk recordings. He was heavily influenced by his mother and Professor Longhair, who shared similar playing styles, as well as Art Tatum, Oscar Peterson and Vladimir Horowitz.

The event takes place Wednesday, Nov. 26 at 8 p.m. Tickets are on sale now at the Tipitina’s website.  A portion of the proceeds from the Tribute will be donated to New Orleans Musicians’ Clinic.
