Tyron Benoit Announces New Album With First Single Out July 25

Louisiana-based roots rocker Tyron Benoit is set to release his latest album Mid-City on September 26. Recorded at Mid-City Studios in New Orleans and produced by Donald Markowitz (Taj Mahal, James Taylor), the album features an all-star lineup including Shane Theriot on guitar and Doug Belote on drums.

Three singles will roll out this summer, each accompanied by a music video from filmmaker Michael Brouphy. The first, “Louisiana Time” is a tribute to bayou camp life which drops July 25, followed by “Raining in Kentucky” (August 22) and “Spent” (September 26).

Benoit, a Marine Corps veteran and former construction worker, began playing music after returning to New Orleans post-Katrina. He’s since toured widely, including slots at Jazz Fest, Telluride Blues & Brews, and a recent European run. His 2022 album Waitin’ on Friday earned praise from OffBeat and other outlets for its blend of country, rock and Cajun soul. OffBeat wrote, ““His version of ‘Just Like Heaven’ is surprisingly faithful—even with his accordion taking the familiar guitar and keyboard licks—though his voice is far tougher than Robert Smith could manage.”

In the true-grit spirit of a DIY artist, in 2024 alone, Tyron and his band played fifteen major festivals, from the French Quarter Festival and the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, to the W.C. Handy Blues Festival and packing out the crowd at the prestigious Telluride Blues and Brews Festival, to a multi-state run opening for brother Tab’s album release tour and then immediately flying across the Atlantic to close out the Lucerne Blues Festival in Switzerland  to a year-ending run of dates in Florida with Samantha Fish.
