Music Forward Foundation announces free music showcase

On May 16, the Music Forward Foundation will feature emerging New Orleans musicians to perform a free music showcase.

The 2019 “Bringing Down the House” artist-development program culminates with the music showcase, which this year features local artists s Blue Crab Redemption, Clay LeBlanc, Jake Exavier, Kyron, Starz, The Vital Signs and YoungZae. These acts were “handpicked from hundreds of applicants by Live Nation talent buyers to participate in the program,” according to organizers.

Bringing Down the House is a free program helping aspiring musicians ages 14 through 20. With lessons in navigating the music industry, business strategies and personal development, the program ” inspires musical careers by cultivating and celebrating emerging artists, connecting them to industry insiders and showcasing their talents on legendary stages nationwide.”

The Music Forward Foundation offers a nationwide network of music industry professionals “to help guide tomorrow’s music innovators and leaders.” As part of the Live Nation Entertainment and House of Blues organizations, the Foundation has reportedly invested $25 million in nationwide programs for the youth.

Hosted by Q93.3’s Sheba Songz, the May 16 concert features the students who’ve been taking part in a series of interactive workshops on Saturdays throughout the spring of 2019. They were selected to perform at the Bringing Down the House showcase based on talent, originality and sound quality.

The Bringing Down the House Class of 2019 showcase will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at the House of Blues New Orleans, 225 Decatur St., at  7:00 p.m.   Free tickets can be obtained the night of the show at the box office or in advance here.
