Bryan Hymel's unique opera "Mystique" returns to New Orleans May 17

‘Mystique’ opera to bring vocal chills & acrobatic thrills to NOLA

For one night only, the Civic Theater in New Orleans will host Bryan Hymel’s Opus Opera, “Mystique.”

Presented in partnership with Liza Rose’s Fly Circus Space, the opera is described as bringing “vocal chills and acrobatic thrills” for all ages. Featuring arias, circus acts, clowns, aerialists, contortionists and more, “Mystique” is a unique mix of the traditional and the unusual.

Featured singers include Bryan Hymel, Irini Kyriakidou and Weston Hurt (currently singing “Rigoletto” with New Orleans Opera), while the “amazing aerialist singer” Rainelle Krause will also appear. This year’s performance features the addition of New York/New Orleans favorite bass-baritone André Courville.
