Traditional jazz, food and beer, and dancing in the streets.

 

Preparations for the 1984 World’s Fair made quite a mess out of the French Quarter. There were street repairs to contend with and sidewalks in upheaval as concrete was replaced with bricks to give the Quarter a fresh look for all the expected visitors. Faced with such adversity, many locals, who don't like to put up with much when it comes to living and partying in the Big Easy, abandoned the Quarter.
