The son of poor, French-speaking sharecroppers, Cajun musician Jo-El Sonnier has been a survivor of hardship his entire life. His mettle has undoubtedly been tested over the past few years, given the coronavirus, its resulting lack of work, and the brutal hurricane tandem of Laura and Delta in 2020 that ravaged Lake Charles with billions of dollars in damage.
