rock’n’bowl didn’t exist in 1975, nice try with the anecdote

  • JazzLunatique

The anecdote comes from the Rolling Stones Voodoo Lounge tour of 1994. Mick and Charlie were trying to come see Beau Jocque at the Rock ‘n’ Bowl. The door woman asked them that question. Their bodyguards paid at the door and they came in. Back then there was barely if any guest list at the rock ‘n’ bowl except maybe for Dee Eaglin.

at least they got the “Upstairs” part of the story correct.

You should write little Rick Rod since you’re such a rock expert.

wow! touchy much? I went to many shows but am no expert by a mile. I was making a comment on another comment. They were being sarcastic with their “nice try” comment. I was replying to that as “at least they got Upstairs right” meaning that “yes you were correct about Rock N Bowl being upstairs at the time” If you continue reviewing rock bands you can’t be that touchy to a comment. Rock fans are monsters if you “slightly” bash their heroes. These replies here are mild. Anyway, I did really enjoy your review. It brought back many great memories that I had forgotten. And being a pretty good photographer, I have a slew of great photos from that show but even looking at them, I still did not recover some of the memories your story brought back. So thanks for that. I also saved your article permanently to my Evernote “permanent save” folder so I can re-read it at another time.

What makes you think I was joking…you should give it a try…appreciate your kind words and you taking time to read it

          • rick rod

I didn’t think you were joking. I thought I had offended you with my comment. If you were joking, then strike up another mis-understood post. Sorry. You are welcome on the kind words. They are sincere. Btw, I am often misunderstood because I am and always have been a clown. I will go for the joke in a heartbeat, and often it is lost on the recipient. I am resigned to always try the funny; sometimes it will work. I think there is a frustrated writer inside me also; even my texts o family and friends alike, go on and on and on. Kinda like this comment. caio’

It’s just setting aside time to write everyday, research, patience and persistence…not much more to it than that…best of luck!

thanks. I actually have been compiling an outline out the misadventures I and my friend got into during the early punk days. When we talk about our insanity everybody says there should be a book at least. Maybe I will start sketching out a rough draft and see how it goes. thanks for the encouragement
