610 Stompers Annual Sweet 610 Debutante Ball Friday at Sugar Mill

With carnival time on the horizon, it’s about time we started having fun. This Friday (February 7), New Orleans’ own all-male, tube sock wearing, polyester short sporting, satin jacket clad, Magnum P.I. mustache rocking Mardi Gras dance krewe the 610 Stompers will hold its annual Sweet 610 Debutante Ball at the Sugar Mill. This 21-and-over soiree, which gets underway at 8:00 p.m., will also serve as the group’s fifth birthday party. General admission tickets are currently on sale and can be purchased online for $40. $100 tickets, which include entry into a 7:00 p.m. patron party, are available as well. Patrons will enjoy an open bar and receive 610 Stompers swag, photo opportunities and a private dance lesson from a Stomper of his or her choosing.

Ordinary men with extraordinary moves, the 610 Stompers' 2014 Sweet Six Ten Debutante Ball takes place at the Sugar Mill on Friday, February 7, 2014 from 8:00 p.m. to midnight.

In keeping with the ball’s “Six Ten Candles” theme, the 610 Stompers are encouraging its faithful to arrive decked-out in ’80s attire, preferably inspired by the coming-of-age teen comedy Sixteen Candles starring Molly Ringwarld and directed by John Hughes. Johnny Sketch & the Long Duk Dongs, a Sixteen Candles-themed spin-off of Sketch’s Dirty Notes, will serve as the night’s entertainment. The Sugar Mill is located at 1021 Convention Center Boulevard (map). The spectacle will shut down at midnight.

Proceeds from the 610 Stompers’ Sweet 610 Debutante Ball will go to the Autism Society of Greater New Orleans. Ordinary men with extraordinary moves, the 610 Stompers have donated more than a quarter-million dollars to local charities since its 2009 inception. The troupe encourage those unable to attend Friday’s event who desire to support its fundraising endeavors to make a donation online.
