Actor Kevin Dillon To Reign As Bacchus LV

Clark Brennan, Captain of the Krewe of Bacchus, revealed that renowned actor Kevin Dillon is set to reign as Bacchus LV. Best known for his iconic portrayal of Johnny “Drama” in the HBO comedy series Entourage, Dillon’s diverse acting career has earned him accolades and recognition in the industry.

Dillon, a three-time Primetime Emmy Award nominee for Best Supporting Actor and a Golden Globe nominee for his role in Entourage, has showcased his talent in a range of roles, including the sociopathic soldier Bunny in Platoon and the drummer John Densmore in The Doors’ musical biopic.

Expressing his enthusiasm, Captain Brennan stated, “We are thrilled that Kevin Dillon will be joining us as Bacchus LV. Kevin follows in our long tradition of outstanding entertainers who delight the crowds and make Mardi Gras even more enjoyable.”

The theme for the 55th Bacchus parade is “Take A Number Please,” featuring 32 hand-painted floats designed by Kern Studios. The floats, with titles such as 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, and the 12 Days of Christmas, promise a visual spectacle. Bacchus’ signature floats include the Baccha-Kong family, Bacchasaurus, Bacchawhoppa, Baccha-Amore, Bacchaneer, Bacchagator, and The Chariot.

Known for its unique throws, the Krewe’s 1700 riders will toss specially-minted doubloons along with king cake pillows, signature socks depicting each float, lighted clown wigs, Dalmatian hats, ball caps, gnomes, and LED watches. The Bacchatality float, featuring riders associated with the hospitality industry, will continue to throw colorful sustainable kitchenware, adding an eco-friendly touch to the celebration. Over 30 of the finest marching bands in the South will enhance the parade’s spirit.

Founded in 1968 by a group of hospitality executives led by restaurateur Owen “Pip” Brennan, the Krewe of Bacchus aims to revitalize Carnival with grander floats and a national celebrity king. Previous Bacchus monarchs include Adam Devine (2023), as well as luminaries like Bob Hope, Danny Kaye, Anthony Mackie, Will Ferrell, Nicolas Cage, Drew Carey, and Andy Garcia.

The Bacchus parade is scheduled to roll on Sunday, February 11, at 5:15 p.m., following the traditional uptown route. Krewe members and their guests will welcome the parade at the Bacchus Rendezvous, featuring a performance by the classic rock band Chicago.
