Anne Paceo and NOLA Friends: A Unique Jazz Dialogue

A one-of-a-kind jazz dialogue between France and New Orleans is set to captivate audiences on Tuesday, April 9, at 2 p.m. at the New Orleans Jazz Museum. Renowned French jazz drummer and composer Anne Paceo will lead this extraordinary musical journey, accompanied by a stellar lineup of local guest musicians.

Anne Paceo’s visit to New Orleans is part of her two-month artist residency with Villa Albertine, a program of the Cultural services of the French Embassy in the United States. During her time in the city, Paceo is delving into the spiritual traditions of New Orleans, and her upcoming concert promises to be a mesmerizing fusion of cultures and sounds.

Titled a “carte blanche,” the concert will feature Paceo’s diverse repertoire, including premieres from her forthcoming album. Embracing the spirit of international cultural cooperation, Paceo will be joined on stage by headliner guest musicians based in New Orleans, including Victor Campbell on piano/keys, Michael Joseph Christie on trumpet, Orlando Gilbert on saxophone, Sari Jordan on vocals, and Lex Warshawski on bass.

Anne Paceo’s accolades speak volumes about her talent and creativity. As a prolific leader and composer, she has crafted a unique musical style that defies boundaries and showcases remarkable alchemies between musicians. Her numerous awards, including the prestigious “Chevaliers des Arts et des Lettres” in 2021 and three Victoires de la Musique (equivalent to the Grammys), underscore her significant contributions to the jazz world.

Born in Daloa, Ivory Coast, Anne Paceo was surrounded by the rhythmic beats of percussionists from an early age. Her journey with music began at the age of 10 when she discovered the drums, which quickly became her passion and refuge. Over the years, Paceo has collaborated with some of the biggest names in French and international music, solidifying her reputation as a versatile and accomplished artist.

The event is proudly organized by the New Orleans Jazz Museum, Villa Albertine, and the Consulate General of France in Louisiana, highlighting the strong cultural ties between France and the vibrant city of New Orleans.

Admission is free and open to the public, seating is limited and offered first come, first serve.
