Arts and Outdoors during “A Day In The Country”

The Creative Alliance of New Orleans and the Torres/Burnes Trust will be hosting “A Day In The Country,” on November 7th, at the River House at Crevasse 22.

The space, a 1970s house transformed into an indoor/outdoor art installation by the Mississippi River in St. Bernard Parish, will welcome several groups of artists organized by Diego Larguia, Ron Bechet, and Juliete Paul who will practice “plein air,” outdoor painting.

Visitors are encouraged to join in the creative process and art appliances will be available to participants.

Also showcased at the event will be an “Art of Nature Trail,” a walk through the woods in which artists will have installed sculptures made of wood and other organic materials.

The production of the on-going video series “Family Portraits,” which captures stories of the people of St. Bernard will take place and open for participation as well.

A free poster will be awarded to the first 30 visitors to arrive at the River House, and other prizes will be given to the “best in show” landscape drawings.

The event will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The River House is located at 8122 Saro Lane, in Poydras, Louisiana. Visitors are invited to RSVP on the Eventbrite page.
