Beauregard-Keyes House hosts series of December holiday events

The historic Beauregard-Keyes House and Gardens is the perfect setting for bringing the old and the new together this holiday season with a variety of events beginning mid-December. Reservations are required for all events and may be made at bkhouse.org.

The annual Holiday Doll Tea Party will be held Saturday, December 11, from 1o a.m. to 1 p.m. A favorite for more than 20 years, children are invited to bring their dolls to a special tea. Several dolls from the private collection of novelist Frances Parkinson-Keyes, a former owner of the French Quarter property, will be on display. The party includes storytelling, crafts, snacks and a visit from a surprise guest. Space is limited and tickets are required for each child and adult. Admission is $20.

Local author Sue Strachan discusses her new book, The Café Brûlot, published by LSU Press, on Wednesday, December 15, from 6–7:30 p.m. The book examines a quintessential New Orleans cocktail born of a legend and one that has endured through the centuries. The lecture will be followed by a demonstration by Charles Carter of Antoine’s Restaurant of how the coffee cocktail is made. A complimentary tasting is included. Admission is $15.

A Not So Silent Night Holiday Concert with Bon Operatit! will take place on  Saturday, December 18, from 7–9 p.m.
This dynamic New Orleans Opera Quartet performed to a sold-out audience at the Beauregard-Keyes House in
June and is returning by popular demand, presenting a mix of classic holiday favorites, opera and musical hits, and a Christmas carol singalong. Refreshments and holiday treats will be available, and attendees are also encouraged to bring their own beverages. Admission is $40

The Beauregard-Keyes House will also be joining other French Quarter Museums for the FQMA Holiday Market from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. on December 18 for those who want to shop local and take home a holiday treasure.

The Beauregard-Keyes Historic House & Garden is located at 1113 Chartres Street, across from the Old Ursulines Convent. It was built in 1826 and purchased by noted author Frances Parkinson Keyes in 1948 and restored under her loving care. Events such as these, along with grants, donations, and other fundraising events help generate funds needed for on-going restoration and future capital improvement projects.
