Best of the Bayou Festival releases 2016 lineup

The Best of the Bayou Festival, Houma’s free two-day music and heritage event, has released its 2016 lineup. For its fifth year, the festival’s two Main Street stages will feature 19 acts and the best local food, artwork and craftsmanship. The event runs on Saturday, September 24 and Sunday, September 25 and includes an alligator race, farmer’s market, classic car show, singer-songwriter showcase and other fun, family-friendly activities.

This year’s music roster maintains Best of the Bayou’s tradition of showcasing great southern talent. Headliners include nationally-known The Revivalists, Grammy Award-winning Wayne Toups, zydeco royalty Terrance Simien, local Baby Bee and Mississippi troubadour Paul Thorn. Other local artists range from Brass-a-holics to The Band Courtbouillon to Creole String Beans. The festival has also added a Saturday morning Children’s Concert to the event for the first time, which will feature Terrance Simien.

The Best of the Bayou Festival runs from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday and 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday. It is presented by People’s Drug Store. More details about the festival can be found here.
