Big Freedia Collaborates with JAMNOLA During Pride Month

To celebrate Pride Month, Big Freedia collaborates with New Orleans’ “cultural funhouse,” JAMNOLA , to raise funds and awareness for PFLAG New Orleans.

For the entire month of June, $1 from every JAMNOLA ticket sold will be donated to FLAGNO, the local branch of PFLAG National, the non-profit organization that has served LGBTQ+ families in the Southeastern Louisiana area for over 40 years.

“PFLAGNO is an organization that is making great strides in reaching and supporting our LGBTQ+ youth who need our support now more than ever,” Big Freedia said. “I’m excited to be partnering with JAMNOLA in helping bring awareness and much-needed funding to this beautiful organization”.

Renowned worldwide as the “Queen of Bounce,” Big Freedia made history as one of the architects of the influential New Orleans bounce genre. She has appeared on tracks like Beyoncé’s Grammy-winning “Formation” and Drake’s “Nice For What.” She also covered “Judas” on Lady Gaga’s Born This Way The Tenth Anniversary album. In April, Big Freedia collaborated with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra for a sold-out world premiere concert, as covered by OffBeat Magazine.

In March, Freedia became the first-ever recipient of the Breaking Barriers award at PFLAG‘s 50th-anniversary gala, an honor https://www.offbeat.com/news/big-freedia-and-lpo-to-collaborate/presented to individuals using their platform to help remove obstacles to LGBTQ+ and intersectional equality in the pursuit of a more just, equitable and inclusive world.
