Broadway’s “A Night with Janis Joplin” Will Rock New Orleans

A Night with Janis Joplin, a Tony Award-nominated Broadway musical that celebrates the life and music of Janis Joplin, will come to New Orleans’ Saenger Theatre on Monday, April 18.

The musical stars Mary Bridget Davis as Janis Joplin, a role that earned her a Tony Award nomination for “Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical” in 2013.

A Night with Janis Joplin celebrates Joplin’s life and music with renditions of her biggest hits, including “Me and Bobby McGee,” “Piece of My Heart,” “Cry Baby,” “Try (Just a Little Bit Harder)” and more. The production also pays tributes to some of Joplin’s most important influences, with peformances of tunes by Aretha Franklin. Etta James, Nina Simone and Betty Smith, among others.

The New Orleans stop will be one of many on the Broadway musical’s 34-city 2016 tour.

Tickets for the show will go on sale this Friday, November 13 at 10am.
