BUKU 2015 Gears Up for a Big Weekend

The fourth annual BUKU Music + Art Project returns on Friday, March 13, and Saturday, March 14.

This up and coming festival combines pop culture and a house-party atmosphere with New Orleans underground culture, featuring well-known electronic, hip-hop, and indie rock acts as well as live art and street performances.

This year’s lineup includes Bassnectar, A$AP Rocky, Passion Pit, Empire of the Sun, Die Antwoord, G-Eazy, Gramatik, Big Freedia, Boyfriend, Sweet Crude, Gravity A (playing the Talking Heads), and plenty more.

They’ll perform on four somewhat-bizarre stages around the premises of the riverfront warehouse: the Power Plant, the Ballroom, the Back Alley, and the Float Den.

BUKU considers itself an “Art Project” rather than an “Art Gallery,” so expect live graffiti “performances” and lots of unconventional, interactive art installations by local artists like festival-favorite Fort BUKU.

The “fort” is a structure made of shipping crates, dredge netting, and other industrial cast-offs where audience members can hang out and watch the action onstage from afar.

The festival will also feature pop-up performances by local street artists and a variety of food vendors and bars. Outside alcohol is prohibited.

Lockers atms, and free water fill-up stations are available on-site.

This event is 18+ only. To view the complete lineup, purchase tickets, or check out the VIP and after-party options, visit their website at http://thebukuproject.com/.
