New Orleans Clarinetist Tim Laughlin’s Originals Featured in Upcoming Eddie Murphy Film

Jazz clarinetist Tim Laughlin announced that two of his original songs will be featured in the upcoming release of the movie Mr. Church.

The movie, which premiers on Friday September 16, will star Eddie Murphy and Britt Robertson. The American drama film is set primarily in the 1970s about a jazz-inspired cook and is based on the life of writer Susan McMartin.

The songs featured in the film are “Blues for Faz” and “Gentilly Strut” and are both from Laughlin’s originals album The Isle of Orleans.

Laughlin, a native of New Orleans, is known for his frequent collaborations with his good friend, late clarinet legend Pete Fountain.. He has recorded several solo CDs, including his award-winning 2003 collection of original songs, The Isle of Orleans. The record was the first full album of originals to be recorded by a New Orleans clarinetist.
