T. Hardy Morris & The Hard Knocks, Motel Radio, Roadkill Ghost Choir, Coyotes, Deltaphonic and Cooties will perform at the second annual Cosmicana when the showcase returns to Gasa Gasa on Saturday, October 14.

Last year, up-and-coming indie/Americana outfit Motel Radio joined forces with Simple Play Presents to put on the first Cosmicana, a one-day Americana mini-festival that featured performances from Tedo Stone, Great Peacock, McGregor, Cherie Louise, Cactus Thief and, naturally, Motel Radio.

Since then, the people behind Cosmicana have kept the spirit of the gathering alive with a series of monthly “Little Cosmicana” shows at the Ace Hotel New Orleans’ Three Keys venue. Those have included sets from acts like Renshaw Davies, The Artisanals and Midriff, as well as sets from original Cosmicana performers like Motel Radio and Great Peacock. Still, a second full-on edition of the showcase was always in the works.

“It’s exciting. This event has grown rather quickly,” Cosmicana organizer Ron Richard said. “I’m jazzed to have such an Athens-influenced lineup with T. Hardy Morris and Roadkill Ghost Choir playing this year. There’s tons of great music coming from that town. I think the monthly Little Cosmicana over at Three Keys in Ace Hotel really helped keep the momentum going throughout the year and opened people’s eyes to this Americana/cosmic/folk culture that is out there and only getting bigger.”

Tickets for Cosmicana 2017 are now on sale. Until then, you can check out Little Cosmicana at Three Keys at the Ace Hotel on second Thursday of every month.
