1st Annual Crescent City Creative Carnival to feature PJ Morton and more

On Saturday, October 20, the 1st Annual Crescent City Creative Carnival will gather members of the arts and creative sectors in an effort to “turn grind into growth.”

The curated event will feature musicians, visual artists, graphic designers, fashion designers, creative directors, marketing executives, content producers and more. For the inaugural event, a “host committee” comprised of four outstanding individuals has been put together to guide the day’s discussions. Tracee Dundas, founder of New Orleans Fashion Week; Steve Martin, founder and publisher of Art+Design magazine; Grammy-nominated recording artist and Morton Records founder, PJ Morton; and executive director of 504Ward and Vice President of Programs at the New Orleans Business Alliance, Victoria Adams Phipps will lead the charge.

Crescent City Creative Carnival organizes its initiatives into four categories. The first is professional and personal development, which focuses on helping creatives stay ahead of trends and creating a space to “speak candidly” about business management, personal finance, mental health and more. Next is a focus on tech and creative ventures. That area underscores the value of programs, apps, gadgets and other tools which enhance productivity for creative professionals. Thirdly, Creative Carnival focuses on community development, particularly as it relates to mentorship training, college student engagement, service projects and the like. Lastly, inclusion and support get special attention. Here, there’s a focus on attention to “developing and advancing” the access, tools and resources for underrepresented populations in the arts and creative fields.

The Creative Carnival takes place at various locations around Frenchmen Street. Registration is required to participate, with price points ranging from $12.50 to $50. For full details on what registration includes, click here.
