Dancing Grounds, the local non-profit dance program, plans to host a “big ole pop-up show” set to pop off Saturday, November 19. “DG10: The Pop Off” will feature a mash-up of performance, visual and contemporary art as well as live music, food and more. Dancing Ground’s own hip-hop and dance group, The Squad, will make their debut with music provided by DJ Legatron Prime and Moses Eder. Free to attend but an RSVP is required, available here.

The event will start at 6 p.m. at Dancing Grounds, with dance performances, improv jam, visual installations, “dreamweaving,” a mural unveiling by New Orleans Society of Fly Ladies, oyster readings with “paris cyan cian.”

At 9 p.m., the party will march down to Saturn Bar in a walking and motorcycle parade with #1 Stunnas Motorsports Club, weather permitting. At Saturn bar,  The Squad will perform followed by a dance party with DJ Legatron Prime.

Adult dance classes will also be offered for “Salsa Fit” with instructor Josh and “Beginner Hip Hop” with instructor Randall.

Visual artists Anna Quinn, Madeleine Kelly, Caitlin Waugh, Monica Kelly & New Orleans Society of Fly Ladies will be on display. Food will be provided by Chef Dalkours and Veggie Tamales NOLA.

Various other artists will also perform including Tutuey and Dre Alvarez, Gabrielle Landry and Lorian Jett, Jarrad DeGruy, Heartless, Black the Creator, Jakki Kalogridis, Ryuta Iwashita and Zensuki Omi, Waverly Evans, Brieze Levy and Lori Crosthwait, Maritza Mercado-Narcisse and Sierrah Dietz, Kristal “M2daE” Jones, Jazz Johnson and Iman Marshall.

Dancing Grounds started in 2012 as a hub for local dance classes and connected dancers with social justice advocacy efforts through the Dance for Social Change Festival. Originally held in the backyard and living room of founder Laura Stein, the organization moved to Saint Claud in 2014.
