Dewey Balfa Week offers Louisiana culture experience and workshop

The 20th Dewey Balfa Cajun & Creole Heritage Week, aka Balfa Week will take place March 20-26 in Eunice, Louisiana at the Lakeview Park & Beach. With the motto “Jouer, Danser, Manger, Répéter,” meaning “Jam, Dance, Eat, Repeat,” the celebration will feature Louisiana-style classes, workshops, dances, and meals.

The adult-oriented music camp teaches advanced skills in Louisiana-style Cajun/Zydeco guitar, fiddle, accordion, rhythm/percussion, French-language vocals, Cajun and Zydeco dance, food preparation and folk traditions.

Meals are included with full-time or part-time camp registrations and housing is available on campus with private or shared cabin options, RV, or tent options, and nearby lodging alternatives are available. Optional local excursions and community-based activities will be offered.

Tuition rates are listed in the registration, ranging from full-week tuition (Monday-Saturday non-member rate) at $750 to a daily drop-in rate of $175. Half-day and Dinner & Dance packages will be available after February 1.
