Dirty Linen Night Returns to French Quarter

The much-anticipated Dirty Linen Night, which OffBeat has covered for decades, is making its 20th appearance on August 12. From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., the 300-1100 blocks of Royal Street will host a lively celebration of New Orleans’s creativity, art, and culinary offerings.

Unlike the traditional White Linen Night, which took place last weekend, Dirty Linen Night looks to embrace imperfections and the unconventional side of art. The Royal Street Arts District nonprofit organizes the event, aiming to infuse passion and music into the art scene. Galleries along Royal Street will open their doors, showcasing exhibits for attendees to explore. Live musicians will also be present, contributing to the event’s atmosphere.

Guests are encouraged to bring out their ‘dirty linens’ from White Linen Night the previous week, adding an unconventional touch to their attire. The night aims to be a unique block party experience, celebrating the distinctiveness of New Orleans.

To ensure a hassle-free arrival, event organizers recommend using rideshare services, taxis, or public transportation, as street parking is limited in the area.

For those interested in culinary experiences, specialty drinks, wine, beer, and local cuisines will be available. Drink wristbands can be purchased online or on the event day at designated tents along Royal Street, starting from 4 p.m.

Dirty Linen Night is open and free to the public, eliminating the need for ticket purchases. Interested individuals can follow Dirty Linen Night on social media to stay informed about the event’s details.
