Faubourg Brewery sponsors Daze Between New Orleans music festival between Jazz Fest weekends

The inaugural Daze Between New Orleans festival will take place at Faubourg Brewery on two days between Jazz Fest weekends. On Tuesday, May 3, and Wednesday, May 4, an outdoor stage on the grounds of the brewery will be filled with acts representing jazz, funk, jam, folk, and beyond. In addition to music, fans may enjoy all that Faubourg Brewery has to offer, from a wide selection of beers to an array Louisiana cuisine. A portion of all proceeds will go to New Orleans-based nonprofit organizations via the Rex Foundation.

Named for the period between the two weekends of the long-running New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, when the Fair Grounds go quiet but the city stays alive with festive energy, Daze Between New Orleans will keep revelers dancing through the midweek. Both days of the event will feature headlining performances by Colorado jam-grass titans The String Cheese Incident in addition to a slew of nationally touring bands and celebrated local favorites. Tuesday will include sets by Grammy-winning jazz-funk collective Snarky Puppy along with Eric Krasno & Friends, Nicholas Payton, Erica Falls, and Benny & The Late Bloomers. The Wednesday lineup will be highlighted by far-reaching psych-funk outfit Lettuce, in addition to Rebirth Brass Band, The Iceman Special, Honey Island Swamp Band, and The Rumble featuring Chief Joseph Boudreaux Jr.

It wouldn’t be a true New Orleans party without great food, and on-site “strEATery” Fete Au Fete will make sure fans are well fed with traditional southern cuisine. Additional local food vendors will be announced closer to the date of the music festival. The festival will also host an Artist Village featuring a variety of local artisans and vendors as well as live painting exhibitions and a career-spanning gallery by renowned local painter Frenchy, with a portion of proceeds benefiting the Rex Foundation.

The event, presented by Live For Live Music, Purple Hat Productions, GMP Live, and Rose Tours.

“To me, Jazz Fest has always been more than just a festival that takes place at the Fair Grounds on two separate weekends,” said Live For Live Music founder Kunj Shah. “It’s the food, it’s the culture, it’s the late-night shows. It’s a chance to recapture our love affair with New Orleans during the days between. With this new festival, we’re grateful for the opportunity to contribute something special to this city that has given us all so much music, culture, and inspiration.”

Adds GMP Live founder Gideon Plotnicki, “We are so excited to bring this new event to life at the beautiful Faubourg Brewery. New Orleans is such a special place, especially during this time of year, and we are proud to create something new and meaningful in a city that is so near and dear to our hearts.”

Daze Between New Orleans has partnered with Rex Foundation, the Grateful Dead-founded organization that writes grants to small nonprofits doing great work in the arts, sciences, education, environment, indigenous culture, and social justice. From their earliest days, the Grateful Dead received countless requests for help from community organizations. The band became known for their generosity and their numerous benefit concerts. In 1984, members of the band, with family and friends, established Rex Foundation as a non-profit charitable organization, allowing the band to proactively support creative endeavors in the arts, sciences, education, environment, indigenous culture and social justice.  A portion of all ticket sales will go directly to New Orleans-based nonprofit organizations. In addition, a virtual auction will offer fans a chance at NOLA- and Grateful Dead-themed artwork, experiences, and memorabilia. To donate to the campaign, text DAZE to (202) 858-1233 or visit here.

“We are truly honored and excited to bring a new Daze Between tradition to New Orleans at this wonderful venue and community resource, The Faubourg Brewery,” said Purple Hat Productions founder Paul Levine. “We are thankful to work with Rex Foundation to support several New Orleans charities. We appreciate the Faubourg Brewery team for giving us this opportunity and working with us to start something special that will contribute to the landscape in between weekends of Jazz Fest for years to come.”
