“FestiGals” Get Empowered at Annual Weekend Getaway

This weekend, the JW Marriott Hotel on Canal Street will host the fifth annual “FestiGals” summer getaway designed for women and run by women.

FestiGals is a non-profit organization designed to connect, educate, and empower women. Beginning tonight and lasting through Sunday afternoon, they present a schedule packed with seminars, events, and fun activities for women from near and far.

Lectures by high-powered ladies around town (including OffBeat’s own Editor-in-Chief, Jan Ramsey) will cover a variety of topics: business success, physical and mental health, financial know-how, culinary expertise, and more.

There will also be plenty of stereotypical feminine fun. Home tours, shopping expeditions, a “Stiletto Sprint” (and a somewhat more manageable “Stiletto Stroll”), frozen yogurt, and dinner parties will also be featured.

Saturday brings the Bodacious Bras for a Cause Luncheon and Auction to raise money for “our sisters with cancer,” and the festival wraps up on Sunday afternoon with the annual “Saints and Sinners Brunch,” a musical meal/potential hangover cure hosted at Muriel’s restaurant in Jackson Square.

The brunch will be preceded by facials, hand massages, smoothies, and more pampering at the Marriott’s “Planet Beach Hangover Hospital,” beginning at 8 a.m.

With single-event tickets, weekend passes, and plenty of options in between, the festival can be made to fit everyone’s schedule and price point.

To purchase tickets, find out more, and view the complete schedule of events, visit the FestiGals website here.

Be sure to look into their affordable childcare options as well.
