Topsy Chapman has charmed crowds all over the world with her authentic style and clear melodious voice. To hear her is a pure delight for people of all ages. Raised in the gospel music tradition, that gospel-tinged fervor is evident in her voice today, as she sings with some of the top musicians in the city of New Orleans. As one of the original cast members of the off Broadway hit “One Mo’ Time”, Topsy Chapman gained national and international recognition. After studying and playing with the respected clarinetist and educator Alvin Batiste, Yolanda Robinson has earned recognition among her peers as one of New Orleans’ finest female vocalists of jazz, blues and gospel. Whether she is fronting the legendary Original Tuxedo Jazz Band or singing with her mother’s group, as she will be doing tonight, Yolanda is known for her sultry, soulful vocal stylings. Jolynda has made her place in the jazz scene as well with performances with musical giants like Harry Shearer, Melissa Etheridge, and Stanton Moore. While using her deep roots in gospel music and rhythm & blues skills Jolynda has the ability to create a musical environment that is enjoyable for anyone who listens. Expect a mosaic of jazz, blues & gospel tied together with unique swing harmonies back by an all-star jazz band.
