New Orleans “First Lady of Jazz” Germaine Bazzle, who is now 94-years-old, will make a rare performance during this year’s Jazz Fest at Snug Harbor Jazz Bistro on Tuesday, April 28.
The legendary, incomparable Germaine Bazzle will make an exclusive performance during Jazz Fest 2026 on Tuesday, April 28 at Snug Harbor as special guest of honor at the Jazz Generations Initiative’s “ANCIENT ENTRY” pair of concerts introducing its 2026 Jazz Cohort Fellows. She will perform alongside a bevy of special guests spanning generations of jazz greats—and greats to come—on a time-travel journey through the roots of jazz into the future of jazz, all in one night.
Bazzle is one of New Orleans’ most respected jazz performers and has been part of the New Orleans jazz scene as a performer and an educator fo decade.
Performers will include the Ancient Entry, a one-of-a-kind performance featuring the debut of Jazz Generations Initiative’s New Orleans 2026 Jazz Cohort, a collaboration including five of the city’s most innovative performers: Tonya Boyd-Cannon on vocals; Steve Lands on trumpet; Aurora Nealand on saxophones and accordion; Victor Campbell on piano and Max Moran on bass. In addition to Ms. Bazzle, special guests will also include Alfred Jordan on drums, Weedie Braimah on percission; Vanito Brown on guitar, and bounce artist Cheeky Blakk.
