INSTRUMENTHEAD Pop-Up Gallery To Support New Orleans Musicians’ Clinic

Music photographer Michael Weintrob is hosting an ongoing pop-up exhibit at 8319 Oak St. (across the street from Jacques Imo’s) to promote his new book, INSTRUMENTHEAD. The event opens to the public at 5 p.m. every day through Sunday, May 6. Proceeds from sales at the event will benefit the New Orleans Musicians’ Clinic & Assistance Foundation, a non-profit that provides medical care to musicians and performing artists in New Orleans.

The book and exhibit feature portraits of musicians pictured with their instruments obscuring their faces. Subjects include Bootsy Collins, Mickey Hart, Junior Brown, Scott Avett and Derek Trucks. Weintrob’s goal was to capture intimate expressions in all 369 artists featured in his book without showing their faces.

“I am so excited to return to New Orleans to share my work,” Weintrob said. “New Orleans is one of the cultural epicenters of the planet for music, food and art, and I’m honored to be exhibiting my INSTRUMENTHEAD portraits and book in a way that can give back to the community.”
