Jazz Education Network Conference comes to New Orleans

The 8th annual Jazz Education Network Conference is coming to New Orleans on Jan. 4-7, 2017. The Jazz Education Network (JEN) “is dedicated to building the jazz arts community by advancing education, promoting performance, and developing new audiences” and holds the yearly conference to foster connections amongst jazz educators and other members of the jazz community. This year, it will be held at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans.

In addition to networking opportunities, the JENerations Jazz Festival will be held at the conference. The festival provides jazz ensemble directors with the chance to sign up their school or community ensemble for a performance slot. Over 800 elementary, middle, junior high, high school, community and college musicians of all ages participate in this event each year.

Other events at the conference include the JEN Young Composer Showcase, which provides students with the opportunity to showcase an original composition. There will be performances, presentations and exhibitions as well. Registration for the conference is now open. Early registration costs $175 for members, $75 for spouses and domestic partners and $50 for students.
