Kamasi Washington Announces Jazz Fest Shows

Kamasi Washington will swing through New Orleans for not one, but four, performances at One Eyed Jacks during Jazz Fest. The saxophonist and composer will take the stage at the French Quarter venue on Friday, April 29 and Saturday, April 30, with two shows scheduled for each night.

2015 has been a huge year for Washington. The UCLA-educated virtuoso–who has performed with the likes of Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Lauryn Hill, Nas, Chaka Khan, Flying Lotus and many more–broke out into the mainstream when his sax prowess was featured on Kendrick Lamar’s critically-acclaimed, smash hit album To Pimp a Butterfly. A few months later, Washington released his debut album The Epic, a nearly three hour juggernaut that has become a critically-acclaimed jazz hit in its own right.

Tickets for the One Eyed Jacks shows are now on sale. Early shows will take place at 8p.m. and late shows are set for 1a.m.
