It’s a Kermit Ruffins marathon!.

Kermit Ruffins will stream live on Wednesday, September 30 at noon, 3p and 6p from Kermit’s Treme Mother-in-law Lounge. You can watch the stream here. 

COVID has not kept the trumpeter down as he has continued playing in front yards (socially distanced, of course) and via Zoom to perform the occasional happy birthday ditty. And Ruffins is no stranger to adapting to change. Longtime readers of OffBeat may recall Stephen Maloney’s coverage of Kermit’s takeover of the lounge in 2011.

Ruffins intended to continue the traditions the K-Doe family started when they originally opened the Mother-in-Law in 1994.

“It’ll be the same bar, just under my ownership,” he told OffBeat. “We’ll have as much live entertainment as we possibly can.”

Ruffins has certainly kept his promise.
