Krewe of BOO Halfway to Halloween Recap

The Krewe of BOO hosted its fourth annual Halfway to Halloween Dance-Off on Saturday, April 22, at Spanish Plaza in the New Orleans Arts District. The free outdoor event featured dance and marching groups from 21 different krewes across the region, live DJ music, celebrity judges, giveaways, family entertainment, and a drum performance by Skinz N Bonez.

Brian Kern, the Chief Spookster for the Krewe of BOO, founded the event to showcase the creativity and sense of fun and community integral to every troupe. The participating dance krewes included some of the region’s most popular groups, such as the Crescent City Fae, Dance Fleur Elite, Dream Dolls, Dynamite Dolls, Jailhouse Rockers, Jamettes, Lucha Krewe, Mande Milkshakers, MKFF’s Cherchez La Femme, NOLA Angels, NOLA Bombshells, NOLA Cherry Bombs, NOLA Heat, Northshore Knockouts, Pussyfooters, Roux La La, Sassyracs, Sirens, and Streetcar Strutters NOLA.

The Krewe of BOO was founded in 2007 and is set to feature more than 500 riders on 16 floats and over 30 marching krewes in their upcoming 2023 parade. The event lineup includes a Royal Luncheon, a Second Line to Pat O’Brien’s for the Krewe of Boo’s Cocktail Happy Hour, and the Captain’s Masquerade Ball on Friday, October 20, followed by a morning Zombie Run, the Krewe of BOO! parade, and a Monster Mash After Party on Saturday, October 21.
