Lil Wayne endorses Trump for president and feels the wrath of his choice; Nicki warned us in 2011

Kanye West, Ice Cube, and Sean “Diddy” Combs aren’t the only rappers to come out swinging for Trump: add Lil Wayne to Trump’s roster of hip hop endorsements. Longtime hip hop consumers may not be surprised as Trump has been the positive subject of hip hop songs since the 1980s. Nicki Minaj, who Wayne signed to his Young Money roster in 2009, spoke on society’s love of Trump in her 2011 tour documentary.

The late Mac Miller was embroiled in controversy when he was sued by Trump for royalties using his name in the penning of the track “Donald Trump.” Redman sang  in”Da Funk” in 1992 “I’m back with the funk, chump…You want funk, how many lumps?…I got spunk…I’m well known like Donald Trump.”  Similar songs like Ice Cube’s “I Gotta Say What Up” and “Money is My Bitch” by Nas celebrate Trump’s notoriety, financial success, and prowess with women. Recently, 50 Cent came out in support of Trump’s policies and his ex-girlfriend, Chelsea Handler, expressed outrage at her ex’s political leanings that the rapper backtracked his statements supporting the president entirely.

Fans of Lil Wayne may know that he at times has disregarded the Black Lives Matter movement. Earlier this week Wayne posed with the president and shared with his 34.8 million followers: “Just had a great meeting with @realdonaldtrump @potus besides what he’s done so far with criminal reform, the platinum plan is going to give the community real ownership. He listened to what we had to say today and assured he will and can get it done.”

Wayne was referring to Trump’s Platinum Plan that promises to  “increase access to capital in Black communities by almost $500 billion” over the next four years.

Wayne’s roster mate Nicki Minaj seems to have always incorporated her political leanings into her music. In “Black Barbies” the Trinidad native rapped, “Island girl, Donald Trump want me go home…Still pull up with my wrist lookin’ like a snowcone” and in her surprise SNL appearance with The Weeknd she gave an early day shoutout to Joe Biden, long before he was in the running for Highest Office in All of the Land.
