Little Freddie King Announces Birthday Bash

Blues enthusiasts in New Orleans are gearing up for a celebration as they come together to honor the 83rd birthday of legendary blues artist and 2022 Best of the Beat Lifetime Achievement Award winner Little Freddie King. The upcoming “King’s 83rd Birthday Bash” aims to be an evening filled with soulful music and celebration, paying tribute to the legacy of a true blues icon who was seen earlier this year at the Cigar Box Guitar Festival.

Scheduled to kick off on July 21 at BJ’s Lounge, the celebration will begin at 9:00 p.m. Attendees can anticipate a performance by Little Freddie King and his blues band. The festivities will continue the following night, July 22, at the renowned d.b.a, at 10:00 p.m.

Adding to the excitement, the Jazz Foundation of America has curated a special event to commemorate Little Freddie King’s contributions to the blues genre. On Wednesday, July 26, music enthusiasts will have the opportunity to witness a performance by Little Freddie King and his band at the New Orleans Jazz Museum on the 3rd floor. The event, which is free and open to the public, will start at 2:00 p.m., featuring a 45-minute set.
