Louisiana Philharmonic presents virtual Latin American Symphony

The New Orleans Hispanic Heritage Foundation will present Latin American Symphony, a multicultural virtual concert with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra on Friday, April 9, at 7 p.m., featuring the Chilean-Italian associate conductor of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Maestro Paolo Bortolameolli.

After an intimate presentation by Carlos Miguel Prieto, musical director of the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, Bortolameolli will lead viewers into the world of classical sounds in the sanctuary of his home.

Paolo has conducted every significant orchestra in Chile, and has been awarded prizes three times by the Arts Critics Association as Symphonic and Opera Conductor of the Year. He returned to perform with the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional Juvenil to conduct the world premiere of Jorge Pena Hen’s Piano Concerto, as well as the Orquesta Filarmónica de Santiago at the Teatro Municipal de Santiago for Mahler’s Seventh Symphony, and he extends his operatic repertoire by conducting The Flying Dutchman.

Paolo is passionately committed to new music and audiences, having developed innovative projects such as RiteNow, a celebration of the centennial of The Rite of Spring, and he also created “Ponle Pausa,” a project that seeks to revolutionize the concept of music education through the implementation of short videos and concerts targeting social network users.

No fee is required to join the Zoom performance at this link.

Steeped in history yet focused on innovation, the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra is the only full-time collaboratively governed and operated orchestra in the United States. The LPO offers a full 36-week season with more than 120 performances, including classics, light classics, pops, education, family, park and community engagement concerts in New Orleans and across multi-parish areas.
