Loyola Center for Counseling Offers Free Mental Health Resource for Hospitality Industry Workers

The Loyola Center for Counseling & Education (LCCE) is a sliding-scale mental health clinic that provides quality counseling services to underserved New Orleanians with no one turned away for lack of funds. Since the clinic’s founding in 2019, it has seen tremendous growth and continues rising to meet the increasing demand for individual, couple, family, group, and play therapy services. It has become a valuable resource for the wellbeing of New Orleans, providing 3000+ hours of clinical counseling services in its first two years of existence and growing.

From now through December 1, the LCCE is participating in Loyola University’s Lagniappe Days to continue building resources to sustain the LCCE mission. The purposes of Lagniappe Days are to (1) raise awareness of the wide variety of programs associated with Loyola that benefit the New Orleans community and Gulf coast region and (2) to leverage existing philanthropic messaging to facilitate gifts to Loyola during what is nationally known to be the season of giving and gratitude and will end on GivingTuesday. GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement, unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and their world.

In addition to the aforementioned clinical services, the LCCE supervises exemplary training for graduate student counselor interns, continuing education for mental health professionals, and special events for the community. One such event, sponsored by United Way Southeast Louisiana Hospitality Cares and the Brett Thomas Doussan Foundation, will take place on December 7 via Zoom: Serving Yourself Some Mental Health – Coping with COVID in the Hospitality Industry.
