Hear contemporary music in an old Barbershop during Luna Libre Live

At the former Keep It Real Barbershop in New Orleans’ Bywater neighborhood, music fans can now attend a weekly live music residency.

The “Luna Libre Live” weekly listening event is owner Rhonda Findley’s effort towards creating a space where “people come together to really listen to New Orleans’ best contemporary musicians perform music in a stripped down, pure form.” The venue is a unique, salon-style place which allows for an “intimate” listening experience in a culturally rich neighborhood.

Though free of a cover, the weekly series (curated by Jonathan Freilich) does collect donations, 100% of which go directly to the performers. In addition to refreshments, Findley curates a specialty menu to feed guests.

Luna Libre Live takes place on Tuesdays from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. (Doors open at 6 p.m.). The performers for remaining dates in November are Dayna Kurtz (November 19) and Joe Cabral (November 26).

For more information, folks are encouraged to call or text 504-237-1284. Guests are asked to enter the venue trhough the back gate garden along Congress Street (the venue itself is located at 3600 St. Claude Ave.).
