Big Night New Orleans New Year’s Eve returns for its 10th anniversary in a new location— Mardi Gras World. The event will be on December 31 at 9 p.m. It’s one of the city’s largest New Year’s dance parties. The entertainment lineup for this year’s celebration includes Big Freedia, Tank & the Bangas, Choppa and DJs Lolo Mayhew, Kid Kamillion, Rozay Rell, Pretty Na$ty and more.

New Orleans’ bounce queen, Big Freedia has served as an unofficial ambassador for the New Orleans music scene bringing the culture to major media outlets. One of her recent achievements was featured on the new Beyonce single, “Break My Soul, where Beyoncé sampled Big Freedia and Adam Pigott’s 2014 bounce song “Explode,” which is up for Song of the Year and Best Dance/Electronic Recording at the Grammys.

Tank and the Bangas, another hometown act, won the 2017 NPR Tiny Desk Contest and in November 2019, were nominated in the Best New Artist category for the 2020 Grammy Awards. They also recently performed for the Today Show, met big fan and first lady Michelle Obama before earning another Grammy nomination for Best Experimental R&B Album. They’ve also been touring the USA with Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue and released a new album earlier this year titled Red Balloon.

An instant hit and local New Orleanian, Choppa is best known for his 2001 single “Choppa Style,” which has also been re-released as a New Orleans Saints’ remix that’s inescapable at Saints’ tailgates.

Headlining DJ Lolo Mayhew is a singer, DJ, and actress. She has toured the world and has starred in Showtime’s Dexter, CSI, Law and Order, FOX’s 9-1-1, & most recently, CBS’s FBI: Most Wanted. She was previously signed to EPIC SONY & toured as an opening act with Britney Spears, Katy Perry, Destiny’s Child, and for Aerosmith at the Super Bowl.

There will also be a silent disco in addition to the live music. The 610 Stompers will also make an appearance.
