Marigny Opera House hosts Ukrainian aid benefit concert

The Marigny Opera House will host a benefit concert on Sunday, April 3, for the nonprofit NOVA Ukraine with all proceeds going directly to humanitarian aid for Ukrainian citizens impacted by the Russian invasion

The event is organized by Bogdan Mynka, a native of Kharkiv, one of the first cities to come under fire during the Russian invasion. A trained opera singer, Mynka has recruited fellow artists to participate in a benefit concert featuring Ukrainian music and performance art. The concert will feature Ukrainian folk songs arranged and performed by Mynka and his trio, cabaret songs condemning the horrors of war by New Orleans-based artist Bremner Duthrie, poems about Ukraine read by poet Mark Yakich and a high-energy set by local duo Secret Cowboy, followed by Trumpet Mafia.

The Marigny Opera House is located at 725 St. Ferdinand Street. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and the performance begins at 5 p.m. An after-party will take place at Anna’s, located at 2601 Royal St.

The suggested donation is $20.
