Mid-City Bayou Boogaloo Lineup Announced

The Mid-City Bayou Boogaloo, named Best Neighborhood Festival at this year’s Best of the Beat Awards, announced its lineup today for the 2011 festival, which takes place Friday through Sunday, May 20 – 22.

Highlighting the festival are Delfeayo Marsalis, performing his Sweet Thunder adaptations of Duke Ellington’s odes to Shakespeare; Cyril Neville & Tribe 13; DJ Jubilee; and Rockin’ Dopsie Jr. From funk, to modern and traditional jazz, to Mardi Gras Indians, to bounce, to zydeco, and all the way to Russian drunk-punk-folk, most of the many genres swirling in the New Orleans air these days are represented.
