Mumford and Sons Announce New Orleans Concert

Mumford and Sons will return to the New Orleans area on April 9, 2016. In a rare move, the popular string band will take the stage at Zephyr Field in Metairie. Singer-songwriter Blake Mills is slated to open the show, which will be part of Mumford & Sons “Arrow Through The Heartland” Tour.

Mumford and Sons last performed in the area in September of 2013, when they headlined a sold out concert at Mardi Gras World. Apparently the venue wasn’t big enough, as the four-piece will now be taking their show to the 17,000-capacity (with standing room) baseball stadium.

The stop will be one of many on a 2016 tour in support of the group’s latest album, Wilder Mind. Produced by James Ford and The National’s Aaron Dessner, the record finds Mumford and Sons abandoning the string band style that made them famous in favor of an unremarkable alternative rock sound.

Tickets for the show will go on sale to the general public this Friday, November 13 at 10am via Ticketmaster. Fan club pre-sale tickets will go on sale this Wednesday, November 11, though Offbeat readers will have the option of purchasing pre-sale ticket between 10am and 10pm on Thursday with the promo code “keepnolafonky”
