Musee Conti Wax Museum to Close

The Musee Conti Wax Museum will close its doors at the end of January.

The Times-Picayune reports that the French Quarter fixture, which has educated New Orleanians and visitors about the history of Louisiana from Iberville to Pete Fountain for over five decades, was sold earlier this year.

New Orleans developer John Weber and Harry Baker Architects have already filed plans to build 16 high-end condos on the property. Weber told the Times-Picayune that the museums signature wax statues will not be thrown away, saying, “Those things are pretty unbelievable. Ideally, we’d like to keep them in use so people can still take a look at them.”
