CAC celebrates 10 years of New Orleans Airlift with HaSizzle, Lost Bayou Ramblers

For New Orleans Airlift’s 10th anniversary, the Contemporary Arts Center will host an anniversary event, celebrating a decade of success for an organization started by artists to support artists. On Nov. 9, CAC invites guests to the CAC Warehouse, where artists who performed for New Orleans Airlift throughout the organization’s history–such as Avery Tare and Deakin of Animal Collective–will return to perform once again.

After Deakin and Tare screen an exclusive excerpt from Animal Collective’s 2018 performance at Music Box Village, they will perform on Airlift’s Porch Life, a travelling music architecture installation. Following Deakin and Tare’s performance, Lost Bayou Ramblers, the Grammy-winning Cajun band from Broussard, LA, will take the stage.

The Bounce Meets Vogue Ball, which began with a successful first year in 2014, will return for its second round, with music from bounce king HaSizzle and Jack Mizrahi–creator of “Pose.” This portion of the event will also include performances by DJ MikeQ, Kevin JZ Prodigy, Sinia Alaia and Katy Red.

The CAC’s atrium will feature an installation and performance reminiscent of 2017’s “New Water Music,” Yotam Haber’s composition addressing coastal destruction. The performance on Nov. 9 will include music from Haber’s composition as performed by members of the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra.

This event will take place at the CAC Warehouse, located at 900 Camp St. For those who purchase VIP tickets, doors open at 7 p.m., starting a VIP Cocktail Hour with an LPO performance. General Admission attendees will start their night on Saint Joseph St. at 8 p.m. The event will close at 12 p.m. VIP tickets are $70, and GA tickets are $30.
