New Orleans Legend George Porter Jr. to Receive Lifetime Achievement Award

Bass Player Live!, a premier live bass event returning for its 18th year in California, is awarding a Lifetime Achievement Award to New Orleans bass legend George Porter Jr. Porter is best known as the bassist and singer of The Meters.

Porter is scheduled to accept his Lifetime Achievement Award from bassist and American Idol superstar Randy Jackson, during a ceremony on Saturday, October 22, which will be followed by the All-Star Concert where Porter will play with his trio and special guests. Then on October 23, Porter will host a clinic at SIR studios in conjunction with Bass Player Live!.

The event will also feature bass player and rock and roll icon Billy Sheehan, who will likewise receive a Lifetime Achievement Award and perform with his band during the All-Star Concert.
