New Orleans Multicultural Tourism Network postpones Music Showcase concert

The New Orleans Multicultural Tourism Network (NOMTN) has announced the postponement of the New Orleans Music Showcase (NOMS) that was to be held August 19 at the House of Blues due to the resurgence of COVID-19. A new date is expected to announced this fall.

“Out of an abundance of caution, NOMTN has made the difficult decision to postpone to a date later this year,” said Oscar Rainey, chairman of the NOMTN board. “The New Orleans Music Showcase is one of our signature programs and it shines a bright light on local musicians and the New Orleans music scene. We are keeping the faith that this postponement is simply a slight bump in the road before we see a sustained post pandemic recovery for our art and music community and the tourism industry.”

NOMS is one of NOMTN’s most successful programs. It provides a local venue for musicians to work and an event for visitors to acquaint themselves with the dynamic local music scene.  Launched in 2019, NOMS attracted more than 60 submissions with the top four winners performing live at the 2019 Essence Festival. The first NOMS generated intense energy and competition among local musicians.

Casmè, Dawn, Brass-A-Holics, Vegas Cola Band, Melomania and others were scheduled to perform at this year’s showcase.

Founded in 1990, NOMTN’s mission is to identify and promote the cultural diversity of New Orleans and to increase leadership, career, and business opportunities at all levels of the hospitality industry. For more information, visit here.
