New Orleans’ Next New Fest: The Bloody Mary Festival

It seems like every week brings the announcement of a new festival in the New Orleans area. The fall brought us our first Fried Chicken Festival and the first Beignet Festival, while this coming spring will see our first Top Taco festival.

New Orleans’ love for festivals runs deep, but our love affair with booze is arguably even stronger. That’s why the latest edition to the city’s festival schedule makes a lot of sense.

Introducing: The Bloody Mary Festival.

According to its website, The Bloody Mary Festival will take place at the Howlin Wolf from noon to 4:30pm on Sunday, March 26. Festival fans will be able to hit two events in less than week, as the Top Taco festival is scheduled for Thursday, March 23.

Evidently, the event will feature two hours of unlimited bloody mary tastings from a variety of local bars and restaurants. Establishments on the bill include, Dante’s Kitchen, Rosedale, The Maison, Bar Tonique, Cafe Fleur de Lis and Louisiana Sisters.

The festival will, of course, showcase local food and music acts, though those lineups have not yet been revealed. A “panel of industry judges” will select the Best Bloody Mary, but attendees will also get to vote for a “People’s Choice” Award winner.

The Bloody Mary Festival will be put on Golden Tomato Productions, a company that organizes similar events in New York City, Denver, Washington, DC, San Francisco and Philadelphia.

Tickets for The Bloody Mary Festival – New Orleans are now on sale. Attendees will need to be 21 years of age or older.
