New Orleans Oyster Festival Announces Music Lineup, Participating Restaurants

The New Orleans Oyster Festival will return to Woldenberg Park along the banks of the Mississippi River on Saturday, June 4 and Sunday, June 5. The free festival will feature music from the Honey Island Swamp Band, Bag of Donuts, Colin Lake, The Bucktown Allstars, Stooges Brass Band and more.

Of course, there will also be a wide variety of oysters to go around. More the 20 restaurants will be on site to show off their stuff, including Drago’s, Katie’s, Red Fish Grill, Bourbon House and Jacques-Imo’s.

The Seventh annual New Orleans Oyster Festival will one again feature a trio of oyster compeitions: the Acme Oyster House World Oyster Eating Championship, the P&J Oyster Shucking Competition and the New Orleans Fish House Largest Oyster Contest.

Much like last week’s crawfish eating compeition, the oyster eating competiton will be an official Major League Eating event. Last year’s winner was Sonya “The Black Widow” Thomas–widely regarded at the greatest oyster eater of all time-who ate 41 dozen oysters in eight minutes (that’s 492 oysters).
