An indoor ice-skating rink is one of the attractions at NOLA Christmasfest at the Morial Convention Center.

NOLA Christmasfest offers indoor ice skating and family-friendly activities

Now in its eighth year, New Orleans’ most festive indoor holiday attraction is back at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. Packed with indoor family fun, NOLA Christmasfest features almost 300,000 square feet of rides, giant ice slides, a real ice-skating rink, two-miles of holiday lights and other and holiday decor, including gingerbread houses and decorated trees.

Presented by Coca-Cola, NOLA Christmasfest is a dazzling, family-friendly seasonal event, offering the perfect opportunity to get into the holiday spirit, make a little joy, and spread a little cheer.

Festival-goers will have the chance to take a spin on the indoor ice-skating rink that extends 52 feet by 140 feet. While skaters are welcome to bring their own skates, a range of sizes will be available on site.

The Big Freezy area will also include an expanded snow-tubing slide area with three lanes, plus a brand-new ice bocce court. Whether you are a thrill-seeker looking to take flight on the Big Blast Blizzard ride or an arts-enthusiast awaiting the magical performances on the Holiday Stage, there is something for everyone in New Orleans’ very own winter wonderland. In between trips aboard the Kringle Carousel and strolls along the Winter Woodland Way, take a seat at the Chalet Café for holiday treats, or at the Tinsel Terrace Tavern for a winter nightcap, and enjoy the sights and sounds of holiday merriment. If you are still looking for last-minute Christmas gifts, explore the Yuletide Market for unique crafts and trinkets perfect for anyone’s stocking.

Kids of all ages will have a chance to meet special Christmas characters such as Santa, Mrs. Claus, Rudolph, and all their friends. Professional photographers will be on hand to capture special holiday memories and autographs will be available from all characters throughout the event.

Live music by regional choirs, hands-on craft activities, storytelling sessions a special demonstration of seasonal science lessons presented by STEM NOLA are all included throughout each day of operation.

NOLA Christmasfest is a 12-day event from December 17-22 and December 25-30 (closed on December 23 and 24) with two sessions per day—a morning timed entry and an evening one. Each session is 4.5 hours. Space will be limited for each time frame. Ticket prices are $20 during weekdays and $25 on Saturday/Sunday.
