As the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival heads into its second weekend, the 13th Annual Nolafunk Series rolls on with a stacked lineup of collaborative, one-of-a-kind performances across New Orleans, highlighting the improvisational spirit and cross-genre energy that define Jazz Fest after dark.
Kicking off Thursday, April 30, the 4th Annual Daniel Donato’s Cosmic NOLA takes over the Civic Theatre, bringing together a genre-blurring ensemble featuring Grahame Lesh, Al Schnier, George Porter Jr., Kanika Moore, and Branden Lewis. That same night, Dead Feat lands at Republic NOLA, fusing the catalogs of the Grateful Dead and Little Feat with a powerhouse lineup that includes Anders Osborne, Bill Payne, Fred Tackett, Kenny Gradney, Jackie Greene, and Chad Cromwell.
The series continues Friday, May 1, with Earth Wind & Power, presented by The Nth Power at Republic NOLA. The performance expands the band’s signature sound with a rotating cast of special guests including Mark Lettieri, Skerik, Peter Levin, and Kanika Moore, blending funk, soul, and improvisational rock.
On Saturday, May 2, Republic NOLA hosts STEELY DANth, an ambitious tribute to Steely Dan featuring an all-star ensemble including Cory Henry, Mark Lettieri, Tim Palmieri, and members of The Nth Power. That same evening, the series culminates with Anders Osborne’s NOLA Birthday Bash at the Civic Theatre—a beloved annual tradition that doubles as both hometown celebration and late-night superjam. This year’s edition features guests including Dave Malone, Jackie Greene, Lindsay Lou, Stanton Moore, Eddie 9V, and more, with Rebirth Brass Band adding a distinctly New Orleans second-line flair.
Known for its once-in-a-lifetime collaborations and genre-defying sets, the Nolafunk Series continues to stand apart as one of Jazz Fest’s most anticipated late-night experiences.
